Stupid Photobucket...

My apologies. Photobucket threw up in my face and lot my progress shots from previous work.

I'll get to fixing that when I can recover them.

Long lost 3D blockout

Oh~! Look what I found in my flashdrive!
Forgot that I had this room blocked out about 2 months ago, based on a bookstore/scribe shop in 14th century Jerusalem. (Yes, Assassin's Creed influence...sue me)
I'll see if I can pick this back up later.

So, yup. Modeled out a good chunk of a violin this morning.
At the moment it's got about 1000tris, and I plan on using ZBrush for the F holes
and the rim around the edge of the belly among other small details.

All I've got left to do is the scroll, bridge, the part that holds the tail and screws/nubs.
I think I've made three attempts at the spiral scroll on top...but I'm still getting some ugly poly shapes. Gotta put it aside and tackle it later. And I've got a bridge modeled out, but I made it too hi-poly and working on cutting the tri-count without losing the elegance of the woodcut.

Project Venice is still on hold...

Got a pleasant email last night from Ubiworkshop saying that they would like to use my piece in the carte blanche section of their upcoming Assassin's Creed artbook.

SO, so excited right now that it's hard to type.
Unfortunately, STILL can't show my piece.

• Assassin's Creed, a popular 3rd-person action game, is coming out with an artbook fairly soon. The game's Publisher/Developer, Ubisoft, held open submissions for the fanart/commission section of their future book. I took advantage of this and submitted a piece, but since I'm not allowed to disclose what I drew until they email with my entry's results, I cannot post the image online until further notice.

• In other news, got a small request I'm working on at the moment. Ironically, my requestor asked for a bust of Ezio, a character from the Assassin's Creed series. Here's what I have at the moment.

• My 3D Venice scene was scrapped early on from lack of correct reference. (*gasp* the internet isn't all true!?) I recently redid the base of the gondala, and again I'm on hold for awhile until I can find detailed references. I just need to make time for a trip to the library and bookstore, and I'm waiting for some photos a friend of mine took while in Italy.
The project will continue at a later time.
